28th February 2022:

Pink® Batts® manufacturing and supply update

Kia ora rā,

Due to the ongoing spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, it's possible that you may experience disruptions to our services.

We are now starting to see the impact that the virus is having on the community and supply chains, and as to be expected there is the potential for our team members to fall unwell or have to isolate too. Unfortunately, these delays are going to be inevitable, and we ask you to please be patient as we all navigate these tricky times.

At Tasman Insulation, we have had processes in place since last year to ensure operations can continue as normal. We are mitigating the risk though every step possible including wearing medical grade face masks, socially distancing, and our factory-based team on a Rapid Antigen Testing (RATs) programme and working in bubbles.

Pink® Batts®  delivery delays
We have been notified that our logistics supplier is preparing for interruptions to their services, which means that you might experience delays to your Pink® Batts®  deliveries of around 1-2 days - these delays are on top of normal delivery times.

We understand that these are challenging times and want to thank you for understanding and continued support.

Ngā mihi nui and thank you from the Pink® Batts® team

22nd September 2021:

Pink® Batts® manufacturing and dispatch update: Alert Level 3 and Alert Level 2

Kia ora

Well done Aotearoa New Zealand! In line with the latest government advice and Auckland moving to Alert Level 3, all Tasman Insulation delivery services will resume from Auckland on Thursday 23 September.

Due to the additional threat of the Delta variant, we will not be allowing any collect orders from our Auckland site. If you normally collect orders from this site, our team will be in contact should you need to arrange an alternative delivery.

Two weeks ago, we were provided with an exemption to manufacture and distribute Pink® Batts® insulation from our Auckland site during Alert Level 4 to support building activity in areas outside of Auckland. Consequently, we resumed our manufacturing plant in Auckland and began dispatch to the areas at Alert Level 3 and below on Monday 13 September.

This helped us relieve some pressure off these regions but due to the demand for our products and backlog of orders during the lockdown, we have taken some additional measures as outlined below -

  • We will continue prioritising the high level of backorders received prior to August 18 before we start processing any new orders in the Auckland region, the same as what we have been doing nationwide
  • We will start processing new orders for the Auckland region from Wednesday 6 October
  • Our order turnaround time will be slower than expected as we start processing all the backorders and our teams operate under Level 3 restrictions
  • We are only able to deliver to our merchant stores at historical volumes and will be reviewing orders above these levels from all customers

The PinkFit® installer services have already commenced for new build and retrofit installs in line with the Level 2 protocols and guidelines for the wider region outside Auckland. They will also begin operation in Auckland from Thursday 23 September for New Builds only.

Thank you for your understanding and support during these times.

Ngā mihi nui and thank you from the Pink® Batts® team

7th September 2021:

Pink® Batts® manufacturing and dispatch back in action with SAFETY

Kia ora

As we head into week four of Alert Level 4 lockdown in Auckland, we hope that you are keeping safe and well during these continued times of uncertainty. For the rest of the country, it will be no doubt be pleasing to hear the move to Alert Level 2 from midnight tonight.

We have today received the good news we were hoping for from the Government and obtained the required dispensation to manufacture and dispatch at Alert Level 4 in our Penrose, Auckland based plant. We have been identified as having critical building materials to ensure we can support the surging demand in the New Zealand building industry. It has been acknowledged by the Government that our products represent some of the “biggest concern with respect to on-going supply” given pre- COVID supply challenges in insulation.

With the required dispensation, we will begin the process of starting up our Pink®Batts® manufacturing plant in Auckland. Due to the prolonged shutdown, and the time it takes to safely re-start our factory, including the requirement to carry out important prestart up maintenance, we don’t envisage we will be able to begin dispatches effectively until Monday 13th September to those areas at Alert Level 3 and below.

Due to the demand for our products, we will be prioritising the high level of backorders before we start processing any new orders. We will also be reviewing orders received that are well over historical levels from all customers. Any orders that have been sent through after going into level 4 and any orders currently being received will be placed on hold until we have supplied our high level of backorders

We have a strict COVID protocol safety plan in place that will be followed to ensure all our staff remain safe and will keep our manufacturing operating safely, now and into the future, to be able to supply your business with the same level of service as we always have.

We look forward to being back up and running with you within the next week and appreciate all your support and understanding to date.

Stay safe and be kind
Ngā mihi nui and thank you from the Pink® Batts® team

1st September 2021

We trust you and your family are keeping safe and well during these continued times of uncertainty. Post the Government announcement on Monday that Auckland and Northland will remain in Level 4 lockdown for the next two weeks, and that from today 1st of September the rest of New Zealand will move to Level 3, we appreciate there will be some uncertainty around what it means for Pink® Batts® supply over the coming weeks.

As our Pink® Batts® product is solely manufactured in Auckland, this means that unfortunately, under Level 4 restrictions we have not gained permission from the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) to manufacture or distribute from our Auckland based site. At this point, we envisage we will not be able to supply our product anywhere in New Zealand or take orders until Auckland’s restrictions reduce to level three.

Due to our exhausted stock levels at our Christchurch warehouse, we will not be able to supply any of our New Zealand customers from our Christchurch warehouse. A small number of backorders have been able to be processed until Friday from Christchurch, we have done the best we can to fairly distribute those based on order received prior to lockdown. We will be communicating with you directly those orders we have managed to ship or can be collected over the coming 24 hours.

We continue to work closely with MBIE to gain approval to manufacture and dispatch from our Auckland site, however at this stage we have low confidence we will be able to achieve this. We would like to reassure you that we remain 100% committed to producing the highest quality New Zealand made Pink® Batts® range and look forward to being back up and running with you again soon. We appreciate this will be disruptive and we will continue to keep you updated with any changes over the coming days.

To everyone, irrespective of the level of lockdown restrictions you are having to manage in your part of New Zealand, stay safe, be kind and hopefully our sacrifices will be rewarded with reduced restrictions in the not too distant future.

Ngā mihi nui and kind regards,
The Team at Tasman Insulation

18th August 2021

Due to the Government announcement of the move to Alert Level 4, Tasman Insulation has stopped production with immediate effect. We are not considered an ‘essential business’ and given the absolute need to limit the spread of the virus in the community we must play our part.

This means –

  • We will not be taking any new orders until further notice, in line with Government announcements
  • Our PinkFit® installer operation will also be closed until advised otherwise
  • All current orders that are in the system and had been placed before midnight last night will be pushed out five working days, at which stage we will wait for a further update

For order queries please contact customer@pinkbatts.co.nz.Your local territory manager is also available via phone or email at any stage you need assistance.

As things evolve, we will continue to have the most up-to-date information here on our website. Thanks for your understanding. Together we will get through this – stay safe everyone.

Ngā mihi nui and kind regards
The Team at Tasman Insulation
