Our Heritage Pink® Batts® was originally known as New Zealand Fibre Glass Limited sold under New Zealand Glass Manufacturers Proprietary which bought the Penrose land and built the factory about 1961. The first factory was built in association with Owens Corning - the world’s inventor of glass fibre insulation.

Transpower were looking at ways to recycle their glass insulators from pylons once they reached end-of-life.
