Q
What R-value do I need for my house?
Under the New Zealand Building Code, new homes and additions to existing homes must be insulated to a minimum standard, depending in what area of the country you live in.However, it is better to install insulation with higher protection (R-values). This means you will enjoy greater comfort and long-term energy savings for only a small extra cost.

Q
What is a R-value and what does it measure?
A R-value is a rating which measures how well insulation can resist heat flow. The R-value of an insulation product depends on the type of material, its density and thickness.Tiny air particles trapped in the insulating material resist the movement of heat. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation is at reducing heat flow and keeping heat in (or out).
