Why do we need thermal insulation?

home insulation performanceHeat will naturally want to travel from a warm temperature zones to a cool temperature zone as it tries to even the temperatures in both areas. This means in winter the heat inside your home tries to escape outside where it is colder to make the temperature inside your home the same as outside. The reverse is also true in summer. Pink® Batts® Insulation produces a barrier to the heat escaping trapping the heat inside where you want it.

How does Pink® Batts® work?

Pink® Batts® and Pink® Batts® Ultra® thermal insulation works by trapping millions of tiny pockets of air inside it. This trapped air is held still and not allowed to move creating an extremely effective barrier to heat transfer. The higher the R-value is of the Pink® Batts® insulation you use the more air you trap and the greater the barrier to heat escaping. An R-value is the standard measure of a products resistance to heat flow.

Environmental Choice

Pink® Batts® Ultra® products have been given the "big tick" by Environmental Choice New Zealand. Initiated and endorsed by the New Zealand Government, Environmental Choice recognises the genuine moves made by manufacturers to reduce the environmental impact of their products and provides a credible and independent guide for consumers who want to purchase products that are better for the environment. Manufacturing ingredients such as using up to 80% recycled glass, production systems, energy saving policies, recycling programmes and waste disposal methods are the criteria taken into account. Ceiling & wall insulation

Pink® Batts® insulation placed in walls and ceilings can significantly reduce heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. Up to 42% of heat is lost through the roof and 24% through the walls. Maximising your thermal insulation in these locations ensure your home is kept warm and will help lower your heating requirements. This means the insulation pays for itself in savings on energy bills! Insulation can also help reduce mould growing on the inside of your walls and ceilings to create a much healthier home.

floor insulation

hot water insulation

hot water insulationPink® Batts® Hot Water Cylinder Wrap

The Pink® Batts® Hot Water Cylinder Wrap is a cost effective, double insulation system for electric hot water cylinders that have a 50mm clearance. An insulated hot water cylinder helps reduce energy costs, keeps water hotter for longer and when the ripple control activates during a power shortage, youíre less likely to be inconvenienced. Cylinders manufactured before 1988 have less built-in insulation so the wrap will make a significant difference.

* To meet Energy Effciency Standards based on the standard 900mm centre trussed roof with
ceiling battens and timber stud wall at 600mm centres.

The R-value guidelines determined from the Schedule Method (NZS 4218) are minimum insulation levels recommended by Tasman Insulation New Zealand to cover a range of similar framing systems. Lower levels of insulation R-values than those indicated may apply for some framing systems. We strongly recommend a detailed analysis specific to your construction is carried out by a building designer on alternative R-value solutions to the above recommendation to ensure compliance to the NZ Building Code.
